Lulu Kennedy among New Year’s Honours List

The Queen’s annual New Year’s Honours list has been unveiled and a number of fashion names have been recognised including Lulu Kennedy, Biba founder Barbara Hulanicki, and shoe designer Emma Hope. Barbara Hulanicki, who founded Biba in the

Sixties and recently collaborated with Asda supermarket’s clothing range George, has been made OBE for services to fashion.

MBEs
have been awarded to shoe designer Emma Hope and Lulu Kennedy, who created fashion week initiative, Fashion East, which has helped the careers of designers such as Roksanda Ilincic and Jonathan Saunders. They are joined by husband and wife jewellery team, John Ayton and Annoushka Ducas, who will also receive MBEs for launching the successful Links of London brand, as well as their new jewellery label, Annoushka.

Additionally, Christopher Inman, honorary treasurer of the British Fashion Council has also been awarded a CBE.

Non-fashion names who also made the list includes actress Helena Bonham Carter, who fronted Marc Jacobs’ autumn/winter 2011 advertising campaign, who will receive a CBE; and TV presenter Lorraine Kelly has been made OBE, for services to charity.
