Walpole announces nominations for 2012 awards

Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Harrods, Mulberry and Stella McCartney will all compete for the ‘British Luxury Brand’ accolade at this year’s Walpole Awards for Excellence. Burberry leads the nominations this year, as well as

battling for the top honour, the heritage brand is also hoping to pick up the ‘Luxury Brand Online’ award, competing against Jimmy Choo and Tiffany & Co, and is up against Dunhill for the ‘British Luxury Brand Overseas’ accolade.

There was a double nomination for Roksanda Ilincic, the London Fashion Week designer is competing against Zoe Jordan, Monica Vinader, Mr. Hare, and Orlebar Brown, for ‘Best Emerging British Luxury Brand’, and will battle it out with the likes of Gerry McGovern for Range Rover and Land Rover for the ‘British Luxury Design Talent’ prize.

Stella McCartney also
received a second nomination, the British fashion designer will take on Vivienne Westwood and Tiffany & Co for the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ honour, and the ‘International Luxury Brand’ award will be between Cartier, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ferrari and Ermenegildo Zegna.

Julia Carrick, chief executive of Walpole said: “This year’s award nominees represent some of the most exciting and dynamic companies in the luxury industry.

“The awards not only highlight the achievements of well established global luxury brands but help provide recognition for young emerging brands. We look forward to revealing the winners at the Banqueting House later this month.”

The winners of the ten awards, from the luxury brands trade body, will be announced November 19 at the Banqueting House, Whitehall, by British actor, Anthony Head.
