After the success of the annual fashion fairs Africa Fashion Week New York (established in 2010) and Africa Fashion Week London (2012), Africa Fashion Week Nigeria is all set for its inaugural edition from May 17 to May May 18 in Lagos.

Set up to provide emerging Nigerian fashion designers a platform to showcase their designs on a national level, several young Nigerian designers together with talented foreign names will be showing their creations on both days, including Nigerian labels like Isi Atagamen, House of Marie, Jedidah and Long Feet Boutique as well as Zarita Kouture, Ijay’s Collections, Zadira Africa, Magnetic Elegance, Mademoiselle Anglaia, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, BigBen, Buchiver and Didi Creations.

Only a few days ago, the AFWN organizers announced their partnership with Nigeria’s popular online shopping site Jumia, which offers more than 20,000 fashion items and has offices in Nigeria and Egypt. To promote Nigerian fashion on a global stage, Jumia will conduct workshops prior to the event to educate the participating designers about entrepreneurial skills and how to reach their target audience through online sales and marketing tools.

Africa Fashion Week London will take place from 7th to 9th August 2014 and Africa Fashion Week New York from September 4th through 6th. Fashion Week Amsterdam is organizer Adiree’s latest project.
