Barbie has unveiled its latest ‘I Can Be’ doll and for 2012 Mattel’s famous doll is running for President and she has drafted in the help of CFDA fashion designer Chris Benz to dress her ‘Glam-paign’.

For Barbie’s ‘I Can Be...President’ doll, Benz has delved into his archives and brought out a print that Michelle Obama wore in green and made it into a tailored pencil skirt suit in Barbie’s signature pink, with the added patriotic red, white and blue ruffle to the blazer. In addition, Barbie will also be able to stand on her own two feet as her matching pink wedge shoes have been weighted.

“I was so excited to jump into the playful world of American fashion design - one filled with colour, fantasy and impact - for such an iconic customer,” says Chris Benz. “It was very important for the outfit to convey professionalism and strength in silhouette and design.”

The doll has been developed in collaboration with the White House Project, a women's leadership development organisation, and will be available this summer in Caucasian, African American, Hispanic and Asian ethnicities.

Benz is the latest in a long line of designer who has teamed up with Barbie, following in the footsteps of Christian Louboutin, Kate Spade, Christian Dior, Gucci, Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang and Anna Sui.
