French brand Petit Bateau is teaming up with designer Christian Lacroix and premiere dance and opera company Opéra National de Paris on a ballet-inspired collaboration, which lands in stores in December.

The collection for both women and children features the brand’s signature nautical stripes on T-shirts, dresses, and high-waisted skirts. The key piece of the line is a draped dress with two velvet ties, which brings through the theatrical details inspired by the iconic opera house.

Commenting on why he was drawn to the project, Lacroix said: "Just like children today, all year round I wore white ribbed vests and garments whose "touch and feel" I still remember.

"Our mothers helped us dress, sometimes tenderly, sometimes with a tinge of impatience, depending on whether or not we were running late for school or bedtime. I was very grateful to be asked by Petit Bateau to design a few timeless pieces, just for the evocation of those memories."

The capsule collection, Petit Bateau Opéra national de Paris by Monsieur Christian Lacroix, launches December 6 and will be available in a selection of Petit Bateau stores, online and at the Palais Garnier opera house. Prices range from 50 euros for a striped children’s top to 250 euros for the women’s striped jersey dress.

Petit Bateau has previously collaborated with Carven, 10 Corso Como and Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato.
