Before Scott Schuman of the Sartorialist, Yvan Rodic of Facehunter and Garance Doré there was Bill Cunningham. The 82 year old loves photography and still works as a fashion photographer at the New York Times. Seen as the founder of street style photography, his life is documented by Richard Press of the Times. The film ‘Bill Cunningham New York’ will premiere on 16th March in America.

The most extraordinary of the movie is Cunningham’s life style. For over 40 years he has been cycling around Manhattan. “The street is the best fashion show,” he explains in the 80-minute movie. ”I’m not interested in celebrities and their free dresses.” Every Sunday, the pictures by Cunningham are printed in the style section of the New York Times. Most of his work isn’t published, according to the photographer himself.

Earlier this year a short documentary was made about fashion photographer Scott Schuman.
