Mary Katrantzou is one of the new British generation designers who's star continues to rise with each season she shows at London Fashion Week.
She is one of a handful of creatives, like Christopher Kane, who combines that old-London ubiquity of art with the qualities and finesse needed to pull off a worthy show production that's required in today's fashion industry.
Katrantzou was a recipient of the eBay and BFC award, with the fashion arm of eBay giving support to emerging British designers to show and develop their businesses here in London. These days young fashion talent are showing on the same schedule as the major design houses, so there is little room for trial and error.
The look: next season Katrantzou printed stamps and macro detail of banknotes onto clothes that looked very much to be 'on-the-money'. A denim collaboration with Current/Elliott showed that for all her creative eye, she has a keen sense of business too.
