Italian fashion house Max Mara is launching a special project for autumn/winter 2012 with its Max Mara Atelier label, which will feature a ‘high-end collection marked by an important tradition, while maintaining its innovative design dedicated to the experimental tailoring’.

The collection will focus entirely on the tailoring of the coat and for AW12 the theme is travel, taking inspiration from the priority lounge in a large international airport, as interpreted by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in the Film ‘The V.I.P.s’.

The range features 10 coats in various luxurious fabrics including double cashmere, melton and pure camel hair, which have been produced in a colour palette of pale grey, camel, steel grey and black. The coats have also been draped with precious details in goose down and mink that makes them soft, warm, practical and lightweight - a whole series of upgrading complements designed specifically for frequent flyers.

Included in the collection are unique tailored accessories and apparel to complete your in-flight look including jumpsuits in cashmere flannel, lightweight waistcoats, a taffeta shirt-dress, as well as embroidered collars to wear like a necklace and slipper-style moccasins.

The Max Mara Atelier collection of coats will only be available in 60 boutiques around the world.
