On the penultimate day of Milan Fashion Week Marni steered away from its prints and colour-blocking and this season focused on lightness in fabric and volume. While there was still plenty of graphic juxtaposition for its core customer, designer Consuelo Castiglioni instead preferred monochrome colours.
Outfits in solid hues captured the pared-down mood of the season, such as the lightness of a white sundress. There were jacquards and some prints in coats with matching skirt, but these again were light and more idiosyncratic than obvious.
"It was about being fresh and clean, a play on proportion and volume but in a controlled way," explained Consuelo Castiglioni of this season's direction, which also took with it peplums of various layers to grace hips on lab coats and luxe black dresses, she told Vogue online.
