Only a few more days until the Museo Balenciaga in Getaria, Spain will launch officially on June 10th. Following a refurbishment of a decade, which cost around 30 million Euros partly funded by Ministerio de Cultura, the museum dedicated to Cristóbal Balenciaga will finally open its doors. The museum is dedicated to Balenciaga, and created under the direction of architects Victoria Garriga and Toño Foraster.

Spanish fashion designer and founder of Balenciaga, Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre (1895-1972) was born in Getaria. Balenciaga worked as the apprentice of a tailor when he was twelve, after which he was send to Madrid to receive a formal training. Balenciaga was very successful and moved to Paris where he opened his couture house in 1937.
