On Sunday, CFDA’s president Diana von Furstenberg presented a collection of bright shades and colourful prints with a futuristic twist for her spring/summer 2013 collection during New York Fashion Week.

Jumpsuits, tunics, wrap dresses and gorgeous tailoring that DVF is known for were coordinated with high tech Google glasses, which featured a camera, a display screen and a processor that basically allows the wearers to read messages, open websites, as well as take photographs on voice command as though the glasses was a smartphone.

The augmented reality glasses, which debut in June at Google’s I/O conference in San Francisco, were coordinated with the DVF collection with small swatches of colourful accents that matched the colour of the garments, which differed from model to model. As well as them being a fashion statement, the high-tech glasses also snapped pictures with the frames from both backstage and on the runway to DVFs Google+ page.

The collaboration was promoted with the hashtag #DVFthroughGlass on social media channels, and a video with the same name will be posted to the label’s Google+ page on September, made up entirely of footage shot with the glasses.

Co-founder of Google Sergey Brin was in attendance for the fashion show, and the frames which were used for the first time by someone outside of Google aren’t yet available to the public. It is thought that a consumer launch will be in 2014, but software developers who pre-ordered the glasses will have them delivered at a cost of 1,500 Dollars from early 2013.

"Beauty, style and comfort are as important to Glass as the latest technology," said Brin. "We are delighted to bring Glass to the runway together with DVF."
