Menswear high street retailer Topman has invited designers from both sides of the Atlantic to take part in its latest initiative the Denim Project to refresh and update the classic denim jacket.

The line-up is made up of British menswear designers, Lou Dalton, Oliver Spencer, Katie Eary, and Shaun Sampson, who have all shown as part of one of Topman and Fashion East’s initiatives – Man, NewGen Men, or have previously collaborated with the retailer. They are joined by an emerging talent coming out of New York, Mark McNairy, as well as a design by Topman Design team.

“We have all own or have owned one but this project is the perfect excuse to re-evaluate the most iconic of all wardrobe staples the denim jacket,” said Topman Design Director, Gordon Richardson. “Left to the dexterous hands of 6 leading menswear designers we have reinvention on a great scale. Trompe L’oeil, overprinting and mesh put the denim jacket centre stage once again.”

The six denim jacket designs roll out to selected Topman stores in both the UK and USA, as well as online from April 5 and will be priced £70 each.
