French fashion brand Louis Vuitton is caught in a legal difference with Danish artist Nadia Plesner. The two parties are not agreeing on Plesners’ Darfurnica piece, a painting with the Sudanic province Darfur as topic and a modern version of Picasso's Guernica.

Allegedly the work shows a bag that looks similar to Vuitton’s Audra Bag. With the painting, Plesner wants to show her astonishment about the coverage celebrities receive for wearing designer clothing in comparison to the conflict in Darfur. According to Vuitton the bag is in breach with brand law. The judge agreed with Vuitton E 5000 penalties per day the work is on show at the artist's website, galleries or somewhere else.

Plesner is trying to get out of the penalty and pressed charges against Louis Vuitton. Together with her lawyer from law firm Kennedy Van Der Laan, she is fighting against violation of freedom of speech and artistic freedom. On her website, Pelsner is raising money to defend herself.
