Fashion Schools: Where to Explore Digital Fashion

The rise in digital fashion has added a whole new dimension to the fashion industry. Brands such as British fashion house Burberry, Italian fashion house Gucci and French fashion house Louis Vuitton are just some of the major names in the industry to adopt digital fashion and create digitally generated outfits. With this growing market in mind, some fashion schools are offering courses in digital fashion.

Amsterdam Fashion Academy

The Amsterdam Fashion Academy is a boutique fashion school that focuses on entrepreneurship, research, digital transformation and individuality.

Short course in Digital Fashion Design

This six-week course requires a subscription to Adobe Illustrator as students will be taught how to translate their fashion designs into technical drawings.

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB)

AUB is a place of higher education that aims to shape and build your work; to learn, share, provoke and collaborate.

Master of Digital Fashion Innovation

This master can be studied either full-time or part-time and it aims to integrate a conscious approach to both the design and realisation of a fashion product by teaching students how to work with advanced digital technologies.

Digital Fashion School

The Digital Fashion School describes itself as “a micro-community of creatives, teachers and fashion lovers.” Their Instructors are Adobe Certified Associates with teaching experience from the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins.

Online course in Backpack Design in Clo 3D

Students will use the fashion design software programme Clo 3D and learn how to build a backpack with a handle, straps and a zipper, make adjustments and simulate the clothing on an avatar.

Online course in Blender - The Basic Essentials

Students will learn how to design and model 3D shoes using 3D modelling programme Blender.

Online course in Clo 3D - The Basic Essentials

Students will use the fashion design software programme Clo 3D and learn how to design a 3D garment, as well as make adjustments and simulate the clothing on an Avatar.

Online course in Collision, Folding and Pleats

Students will use the fashion design software programme Clo 3D and learn how to create pleated fabric.

Leeds Arts University

Leeds Art University is a specialist arts further and higher education institution.

Master of Digital Fashion

This one-year full-time master or two-year part-time master will teach its students how to use scanners and laser cutters, as well as Clo 3D, a 3D programme, to facilitate the creation of digital and physical products.

Parsons School of Design

New York-based fashion school Parsons School of Design focuses on engaging its students in real-world learning and developing them as critical thinkers.

Short course in Digital Fashion 101

This six-week course will give students an overview of digital techniques such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) research, digital marketing, 3D design, virtual prototyping, on-demand manufacturing and retail.

University of the Arts London (UAL)

Fashion school UAL focuses on arts, design, fashion and the performing arts.

University of Huddersfield

The University of Huddersfield is a public research university.

Bachelor of Fashion Design with Digital Technology

This three-year bachelor or four years with placement aims to teach students contemporary fashion design and garment production for womenswear, menswear or uni-gender with the specialism of digital technology for fashion.
