For the first time, students of the Akademie Mode & Design in Hamburg and the Berlin University of the Arts are joining the London Graduate Fashion Week.

The AMD Akademie Mode & Design nominated the graduation collection of the design duo Gabriela Sanchez and Cedric Grünewaldt to take part in the competition.

One of the largest platforms

Their collection titled the “The Vulgar Men” plays with colors and fabrics, combining classically checked and striped fabrics, and modern, unusual fabrics such as waxed cotton textiles. Accents of red and pink that vary in their strength are added to base colors of dark blue, beige, green-grey and sand. An experimental collage technique created silhouettes that are once oversized and then sleek.

Graduate Fashion Week is one of the largest platforms in the world for emerging fashion talent. The four-day event takes place from June 3-6 in London this year and will be attended by students from 47 universities worldwide. Supporters include designers such as Victoria Beckham, Christopher Bailey, Vivienne Westwood and brands like John Lewis, Clarks, M&S and Swarovski.
