Graduate Fashion Week announces digital ambassadors

Graduate Fashion Week has announced the appointment of digital ambassadors with the aim to wield greater influence on social media and wider fashion industry.

In a statement the company said “with support from stylists, journalists and activists, we're excited to extend the ethos of Graduate Fashion Week beyond the annual event in Truman Brewery and into the digital sphere.”

The appointments include Illustrated People Creative Director Phoebe Lettice, who’s Instagram handle goes by @phoebelettice and has 136k followers.

GFW stated “her eclectic approach makes her one of the most exciting young women working in the industry today.”

Influencers can increase brand engagement, broaden the scope of awareness and if one wanted to put a monetary value on it, the influencer economy on Instagram alone is worth about 1 billion dollars according to marketing agency Mediakix.

Graduate Fashion Week takes place from 3-6 June and opens with the GFW Collective from six UK institutions, including the Glasgow School of Arts and Leeds Arts University.

The three-day event showcases the work from over 1,000 students and graduates from the most influential and inspiring universities around the world. With an expected attendance of over 30,000 guests, there are 25 catwalk shows, exhibitions from over 40 universities live talks and workshops featuring leading names from the fashion industry.
