The Fashionweek, formerly The Hague Fashion Week, has announced the next edition of its Talent Award for emerging designers from The Netherlands, via a release.
The Fashionweek Talent Award 2022 is a collaboration between The Fashionweek and shopping centre Westfield Mall in The Netherlands, located in Leidschendam, near The Hague.
The winner of the award will be invited to present his or her fashion collection at The Fashionweek which will take place in The Hague from September 26 until October 2.
Fashion designer Rosalie Boonstra, a student at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences: School of the arts (HKU), won the last edition of The Talent Award back in October 2021, at The Fashionweek’s first physical edition.
The young creative won 2,500 euros in prize money which she used to create her own collection. She will present her complete collection on Saturday, October 1 during a catwalk presentation.
This year’s aspiring fashion designers can apply (for free) by submitting their fashion design before August 24 2022 via The Fashionweek website, which states that the designs must be innovative and well done in order to be presented on the runway.
First, a professional jury consisting of Dutch fashion professionals will select eight designers from all of the applicants, with each to get an opportunity to present their designs at an event at the end of September. After this, the public can vote for the outfits.
All participants are requested to bring their own fashion model to ensure that the outfit fits seamlessly.
The winner will be selected based on 50 percent of (online) public vote and 50 percent of the jury vote, and will ultimately present their design at The Fashionweek in 2023.
The Fashionweek 2022 in The Hague
The Fashionweek is a fashion festival that takes place in the political capital of The Netherlands. The event gives lesser known, particularly non-commercial fashion designers, fashion students and fashion brands in The Netherlands a platform to present their creations.
Apart from catwalk presentations and fashion shows, this year’s edition of The Fashionweek will also include a ‘fashion route’ through the city of The Hague.
