London - The much awaited and anticipate denim collaboration Cheap Monday x Faustine Steinmetz have finally been unveiled in Cheap Monday Carnaby Street store, in London. The Central Saint Martins graduate, best known for her innovative use of denim as well as her hand-woven denim, embarked on a collaboration with H&M’s edger sister label which has resulted in a limited edition, unisex capsule collection. Consisting of 8 handmade pieces, the limited collection offers jeans, jackets, dresses, t-shirts as well as a backpack in a gender-neutral silhouette.

Inspiration for the collection stemmed from Cheap Monday’s head of denim design, Carl Malmgren, interest in Faustine’s unique method of working with denim and her ability to create something completely new out of classic denim. For Faustine, who is said to have often dressed “top-to-toe” in Cheap Monday looks as a teenager, the collaboration felt like both a natural and desired partnership. The limited edition collection was inspired by Faustine’s interest in the Heavy, Black metal music scene of the 1990s as well as Cheap Monday’s modern take on denim, with the end collection offering a series of modern pieces in monochrome tones.

The resulting collection offers mixture of distinct fabrics, textures and techniques. Merino wool felting was used in order to create a hairy, heavy contrast to the denim and fabric pulling was used to develop a loosely woven material which contrast the organic cotton used throughout as part of Cheap Monday’s and Faustine’s vision on sustainability. The collection, which bring together Cheap Monday’s denim background and Faustine’s artisanal approach is available in limited number and available in select stores as well as online at cheapmonday.com. Prices range from 90 pounds to 450 pounds.
