Florence-based fashion school Polimoda completed the third edition of its Polimoda Junior Summer Camp for girls aged eight to 12 in partnership with the OTB Group, an international fashion association, and in collaboration with Pitti Immagine.

The students learned about circular fashion and ‘The Second Life of Fashion,’ which was the theme of Polimoda’s event this year.

Students were given lectures by industry experts about the consumption habits of society, the production of garments and the environmental impact it has on the planet, and the ethics of working conditions, according to a statement.

In addition to theory, students were provided with laboratory activities to discover how to rework deadstock clothing and fabrics.

The camp was dedicated to the international Clean Clothes Campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the ethics of consumption in the next generation of children. The proceeds of the event were donated to the OTB Foundation, a non-profit organisation that helps social development projects worldwide.

At the end of the camp, the students presented their designs and mood boards with the concept of transforming second-hand dresses and fabrics and upcycling them to give them a second life.
