British womenswear retailer Topshop is to launch its first store in China this week in Hong Kong, as the Arcadia brand continues with its international expansion. Set to open its doors on June 6, the 14,000 square foot store will be launched with a series of activities including live music, giveaways, and an appearance by special guests before owner Sir Phillip Green cuts the ribbon.

Located within the Asia Standard Tower on Queens Road Central, the store spans across two floors and offers the chains Unique line, which shows during London Fashion Week, its premium brand, Boutique, as well as its designer collaborations and mainline fashion collection. In addition, the shop will also offer the brand’s make-up collection and accessories, and will have a dedicated shoe lounge and a by-appointment personal shopping area.

Sir Philip Green, owner of Topshop said: "This is a very exciting step in the continued growth of Topshop as a global, yet uniquely British, brand. I am confident that fashion-loving Hong Kong customers will enjoy the retail experience and fantastic products that Topshop offers them."

Topshop’s debut store in China will be managed by LAB Concept, the contemporary retail subsidiary of Lane Crawford, who will be providing the retail space and operational expertise, including staff and logistics support, while Topshop will manage the merchandising.

Andrew Keith, President of Lane Crawford, commented: "From our own businesses, we've seen the growing demand from customers who want accessibility to fashion and beauty without compromise on design or trend.

“Topshop is going to give them that and more -- an unparalleled experience with cool product and great service in a dynamic environment that makes shopping fun."

Over the past year, Topshop has opened in Australia, Brazil and South Africa, however the Far East is a “key priority” for growth. The retailer has 319 stores in the UK, with a further 137 international franchises operating in 37 countries, while its USA flagship stores are fully owned, rather than franchise partners.

Topshop isn’t the only fashion chain entering the Hong Kong market, the region has seen an influx of international retailers opening in recent years including H&M’s COS, Abercrombie & Fitch, and J.Crew opened in partnership with Lane Crawford.
