London - Delphine Ninous, head of women's wear at Belstaff has been promoted to the role of collection creative director following the sudden departure of its head of men's wear Frederik Dyhr.

In her new role, Ninous will oversee both the luxury brand's men's wear and women's wear collection, in addition to the brand's other categories, reports Business of Fashion. She first joined the team at Belstaff in late 2014 and has been in charge of the brand's women's wear collections since then.

The former head of men's wear, Dyhr, has stepped down from his role with immediate effect to pursue "new opportunities." Now with Ninous in charge, the luxury fashion brand aims to speed up its business strategy, which includes bringing its women's wear and men's wear closer together under a unified design vision and developing its expansion plan.

"Appointing Delphine is within our strategy to accelerate and to have a very singular pair of eyes across all of the collection development," said Gavin Haig, chief executive officer at Belstaff to BoF.

"By having a single design head, I think that can go faster and can be more cohesive," he noted, adding that the brand was contemplating the idea of merging its women's wear and men's wear show into a single event, much like Gucci and Burberry.

Prior to joining the team at Belstaff, Ninous served as the design director at Paul & Joe. She has held numerous design roles at luxury brands, including Isabel Marant, Comptoir des Contonniers and Diane Von Furstenberg.
