London - The British Fashion Council has announced the developed of a new, internal leadership, management team to support its Chief Executive Officer Caroline Rush ahead of the kick off of London Fashion Week on Friday.

Three new appointments have been made to the senior team, following the retirement of Simon Ward, the organization's Chief Operating Officer earlier this year. The first new appointment made sees Clara Mercer, Head of Communications being promoted to Communications Director. Jenico Preston, the BFC's former Head of Sponsorship has been named Commercial Director and Laura Strain will take on the role of Finance Director.

The new leadership team will work directly with Rush on the development and resourcing of new projects. They have been tasked with creating new workflows to implement the strategy set by the BFC's and will review and manage internal skills and resources. All three promotions have been approved by the board of directors.

"I am delighted we are able to provide this opportunity for Jenico, Clara and Laura to further demonstrate and develop their leadership skills," commented Caroline Rush CBE, CEO of the BFC in a statement. "Earlier this year we bolstered our Board of Directors to improve governance and to assist in developing and setting strategy for the organisation."

"In order to deliver on the Board’s ambition it is essential that we have a strong internal leadership team to ensure financially and operationally we remain agile and that in a changing industry we are in a position to not just adapt but to lead."
