London - Cath Kidston, founder of the eponymous lifestyle brand best known for its kitsch floral prints, has announced her impending exit from her role as non-executive director.

Kidston is set to retire from her role at the retailer she founded over two decades ago in Holland Park following this year's annual meeting in order to purse other business opportunities.

Her departure from the role comes two years after she stepped down from her role as Chief Creative Designer. "When I opened my first shop in 1993 I never imagined that it would grow into a global phenomenon," said Kidston on her decision to exit the role in 2014. The international brand has rapidly expanded over the past few years, counting over 200 stores globally.

Kidston remains a 12 percent shareholder in the group, together with shareholders TA Associates and Baring Asia, as well as a brand ambassador.
