The plus-size retail has plans to close at least 10 locations after the holiday season. Fashion to Figure currently runs 26 stores along the U.S. East Coast.

The big cut responds to an ill-timed expansion fueled by an 18.2 million dollars investment in 2013 by Perella Weinberg Partners, explained the company’s CEO, Michael Kaplan, in an interview with the ‘New York Post’ this weekend.

“We rolled out mall stores at a time when the world was changing quite a bit,” Kaplan said, adding that they “are unwinding [the expansion] and that certainly presents challenges.”

Kaplan runs Fashion to Figure with his brother, Nick. They launched the NYC-based company in 2004, naming it after a pithy remark Lena Bryant made: “Never ask women to conform their figures to fashion, but rather bring fashion to the figure.”
