The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The museum plans to launch a Wear LACMA collection featured clothing, accessories, and perfume in November.

The new launch will feature 19 fashion designers from Los Angeles and will present a ready-to-wear collection. The designers will come draw inspiration from the museum itself for the up and coming collection. “The Wear LACMA: 50th Anniversary Edition is an exciting celebration of the museum and the talented designers that live and work in Los Angeles,” said Katherine Ross, founder of the Wear LACMA project. The designers include jewelry makers and fashion designers. Each designer will use their specific niche in designing to create one-of-a-kind pieces for the new collection. “Our customers look for the individuality in all aspects of their lives and these specially designed items are a perfect match for that audience,” said Stephanie Horton, chief marketing officer of Farfetch. Farfetch has teamed with LACMA in order to make this new launch possible. Designers such as Irene Neuwirth and Ko will focus on jewelry-inspired designs using wood and bedazzled jewels. Ko will create designs that are inspired by a wooden surfboard from the 1920’s. Rodarte is taking a more direct approach in design with tee’s and sweaters with the LACMA logo. Libertine will design an outerwear jacket that is inspired by photography from the ‘60s. Lhuillier is going to design two dresses that are inspired by a 16th century French water pitcher. Each designer has their own unique spin on what to design for the museum’s anniversary collection.

The pieces will be available at Farfetch.com and at the LACMA gift shop. All proceeds will benefit the museum. Teaming with Farfetch will help make the collection available on a global scale through online commerce. “Farfetch’s partnership in this project is exceptional, and we could not have realized this anniversary edition of Wear LACMA without their support,” said Ross. The collection will range in price from 50 to 1,000 dollars and features apparel, jewelry, and fragrances. Innately, all of the pieces are derived from the museum’s paintings, contemporary art, photography, and more. The nineteen designers participating in total include Jennifer Meyer, Irene Neuwirth, George Esquivel, the Elder Statesman, Freecity, Anita Ko, Dosa, Greg Lauren, Co, L’oeil du Vert, Libertine, Monique Lhuillier, NewbarK, Clare Vivier, Rodarte, Cathy Waterman, Nick Fouquet, Cathy Waterman, and Juan Carlos Obando. All drew inspiration and motivation from ancient pieces from Mexico and Iran, 16th and 17th European paintings, and more.

The entire project was initiated by the museum’s Director’s Circle. Wear LACMA has been established as a part of the museum since 2012. In the past, Wear LACMA has collaborated with many established designers. Pieces from the collection in the past include art-inspired apparel, tote bags, accessories, jewelry, fragrances, and more. Previous designers for the collection include Clare V, Gregory Parkinson, Jennifer Meyer, Anita Ko, and more.

The official date for the Wear LACMA: 50th Anniversary Edition launch is November 4.
