Rodarte founders and fashion designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy confirmed their latest project: writing and directing a new feature film. The film, entitled “Woodshock,” has not yet revealed its plot line but has confirmed one of its actors will be Kirsten Dunst, long-time friend of the duo.
The Mulleavy sisters have worked on their debut screenplay for years and only recently received confirmation that it will be turned into a feature film. Waypoint Entertainment, Ben LeClair, and Michael Costigan of Cota Films are financing the project for the Rodarte pair. Both have contributed to silver screen features before; the pair assisted in creating costume wardrobe for Black Swan (2010). Known for their fashion endeavors previously, the entertainment route is a new direction for Laura and Kate Mulleavy. The Hollywood Report states that the those close to the pair admit the two have always “had a desire to direct.”

Previous films of Waypoint Entertainment include “Silence,” “The Sea of Trees,” “The Nice Guys,” and others. Actresses that have worked previously with the company include Matthew McConaughey, Naomi Watts, Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, and more.
Laura and Kate Mulleavy founded the Los Angeles-based fashion company Rodarte in 2005. The two conceptualized the brand based on mixing high couture with Californian, feminine influences. Their multi-layered clothing have received critical acclaim including awards such as CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year, United States Artist Grant,a nd Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Fashion. The designers are famous for their collaborations and special projects that they have done with other high-profile fashion icons. They have worked previously with Frank Gehry, Gustavo Dudamel, Benjamin Millepied, and more. This year, the company made Vogue’s Top 10 Collection list for their Fall 2015 collection.
