This weekend, Laguna Beach will showcase a Runway Fashion Show that will highlight designs made from recyclable materials. The annual show will be held this Saturday on August 15 at the Festival of Arts.

The Runway Fashion Show is something that has been in existence since the beginning of the Festival of Arts. It’s the seven year for the show with four competition categories for participants. The designers will compete for Most Innovative Use of Materials, Most Creative Concept, Most Glamorous & Elegant Red Carpet-Worthy Creation, and Most Exciting Ensemble. Judges that will help decide the winners for these events include several celebrities and fashion moguls such as Cristina Ferrare. For the fashion show, most silhouettes reveal creative, fresh ways to engage recyclable materials for outstanding gowns. The pieces are meant to look fashionable and stylish although made completely from repurposed materials such as paper, cardboard, etc. Everything used in the designs must be eco-friendly and recyclable.

The Festival of Arts began as an establishment due to the city’s history with art. Around the 1900’s, the early colonies of Laguna Beach associated the city with art. In 1918, the community was established to promote and support the fine arts with as the Laguna Art Association. In 1941, the first festival of the Festival of Arts debuted. Since then, the event has become a world-renowned cultural attraction that receives visitors from all over the world. Although the fashion show will be a one-day event, the festival will remain open until August 31.
