Online marketplace eBay is launching a new mobile consignment concierge under the name "the Lux Line."
Set to offer shoppers the same selling experience as the online marketplace, the new Lux Line will run out of a branded bus that will travel to several locations on the West Coast in the US.
Shoppers will be able to visit the Lux Line and physically shop for luxury items and sell their own designer pieces. Eligible brands up for sale include the likes of Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and more, with the platform's team of selling experts on hand to appraise all items.
With main stops set in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, the bus will feature a curated selection of luxury items, including watches, handbags, and jewelry from its leading luxury sellers such as Jenna Lyons, founder and CEO of LoveSeen.
"My closet is bursting with the collection of handbags I've amassed over the past 20 years, and eBay's consignment service has made it easy to give these bags new life in someone else's collection," said designer Jenna Lyons in a statement. "eBay's Luxe Line will feature some special finds from over the years, including a red Celine Luggage Tote.
Running from December 13 to 14 in Los Angeles, the bus will then travel to Las Vegas on December 16. Shoppers who are not able to visit the Lux Line in person can still shop the luxury items from Lyon's online, with 100 percent of all proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.
Whether visitors are consigning handbags from their personal collection or not, the Luxe Line is also stocked with luxury handbags to shop from Jenna Lyons' closet as well as other luxury handbags, watches, and jewelry from top eBay sellers Linda's Stuff and MyGemma. Event Dates & Details:
eBay's foray into consignment shopping is part of the online marketplace's strategy to strengthen and enhance its fashion segment. The new service builds on other services like the eBay Authenticity Guarantee and the integration of Certilogo, an AI-driven authentication service.
"Our consignment service is designed to help remove the typical barriers to selling pre-owned items," said Tirath Kamdar, global general manager of luxury at eBay, in a statement. "The Luxe Line gives sellers and shoppers a way to test out our new service in real life with the same trusted experts that eBay works with for the online experience."
