Barbara Hulanicki, Founder of the global fashion phenomenon Biba in the 1960s, has partnered

with George at Asda to create a new collection for Autumn/Winter 2010.

Staying true to her design philosophy to make high fashion affordable, Hulanicki’s pieces will be on sale from £8. Biba, now owned by House of Fraser, launched under the same premise to produce low-priced versions of high fashion including a pink gingham dress worn by Brigitte Bardot.

Hulanicki has also designed four t-shirts for the supermarket chain’s Tickled Pink collection to raise money for breast cancer charities. There are four designs featuring the designer’s signature style incorporating striking graphics of oversized roses and feminine faces and silhouettes. An impressive 10,000 of the special edition t-shirts have already been sold - meaning that £10,000 has been raised for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Biba’s doors closed in 1976 but Hulanicki continues to be a pioneer in today’s fashion design world and successfully launched a collection for Topshop last year.
