Luxury fashion house Chanel has been sentenced to pay 200,000

Euros to knitwear company World Tricot by the Paris Court of Appeal for “infringement”.

This is the latest development in an ongoing legal battle between the two brands, with World Tricot, one of Chanel’s former suppliers claiming that the French fashion house copied one of its crochet patterns in 2009.

The ruling overturns a 2009 commercial court decision that ordered World Tricot to pay Chanel 200,002 Euros for "public disparagement", after it took the fashion house to court seeking damages for breach of contract, in relation to wrongful termination, and counterfeiting.

In response to latest decision from the court, Chanel has said that it will decide “shortly” on whether it will appeal the sentence.
