Emerging British designers are to show in New York in a new

showroom setting to further develop in the US market.

Called the White Space, the idea is the brainchild of former buyer Ruth Runberg and stylist Alison Brokaw. Runberg, who was a buyer for London fashion emporium Browns, told Business of Fashion: “There’s just no way [for buyers] to see everything – and to make sure you’re not missing something good.”

The event will give the designers both access to a central location and to high-end buyers for no fee. Instead, Runberg and Brokaw will earn a small percentage of any orders taken at The White Space.

Five hand-picked designers will show their collections at the event which takes place in Justine and Jeff Koons’ NYC studio, The Business of Fashion reported. The London designers include Lucas Hugh, a luxury athletic fashion brand and Holly Fowler, who creates hand-painted dresses.
