Irish designer John Rocha is to retire from London Fashion Week. Rocha stated "the last couple of collections I looked back

on and I thought to myself that is really the best work I can do." The Hong Kong born native launched his eponymous line in 1985 and is best known for his luxurious and creative knitwear.

In 1993 Rocha was named British Designer of the Year by the British Fashion Council at which time his ready to wear and denim collections were stocked at the most prestigious boutiques across the globe.

Rocha will not replaced by a new creative director and told Vogue online: "I can tell you every element of every single look from each collection - one to 30 - without looking at a picture - my label is all done by me. When I stop nobody could take over - I've made that decision."

Fashion, however, runs in the family genes, and daughter Simone Rocha was last year awarded emerging womenswear designer of the year at the 2013 British Fashion Awards and is slowly carving a niche for herself.
