The Andam Fashion Award, which is backed by the DEFI, the French Ministry of

Culture and Communications, and sponsors including the Pierre Berge Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, LVMH, Swarovski and thecorner.com, has announced this year’s award winners.

The Andam Grand Prix has been awarded to Julien David, who wins an endowment of €230,000 and the mentorship for two consecutive seasons by Pierre-Yves Roussel, which is to aid the designer in establishing his label.

Commenting on the honour, Julien David said: “I feel very honoured to be part of the fellowship winners’ list of the prestigious Andam Grand Prix and to get closer to the French industry for the development of my future collections.”

David, who graduated from the Parson School of Design in 2003 and has worked for Narciso Rodriguez and Ralph Lauren, took the prize ahead of British-based designer Thomas Tait, as well as Cédric Charlier, Vika Gazinskayawho, Calla Haynes, and Nicolas Andreas Taralis who were also nominated for the prize.

From September, the six finalists will be producing an exclusive collection for thecorner.com, which will help to raise their International profile.

Pièce d'Anarchive, which was founded by three female fashion designers, took home the prize for The Second Edition of the First Collections Prize, providing them with €60,000 and the supply of La Suite, a space by the Galeries Lafayette for the installation of their showroom.
