Primark is hoping to bring its value fashion to the US and has appointed Jose Luis Martinez de Larramendi to lead the

expansion.

Primark's parent company ABF said in April it would launch the value chain's first of four US stores in Boston towards the end of 2015.

Martinez De Larramendi, who is currently head of its Spain and Portugal division, will take on the new role next year. Stephen Mullen, currently commercial manager for Iberia, will take over running the Spain and Portugal ops.

"We're hoping in the first year to open nine stores in the north east corridor," Primark spokeswoman Breege O'Donoghue told Reuters at the opening of the brand's largest store to date in Spain.

In the US Primark will no doubt face stiffer competition as the retail landscape has many more value chains than the UK.
