Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz has been presented with an honorary doctorate by the Royal College of Art for his

“significant contribution to culture and industry, both internationally and in the UK.”

Elbaz, who has helmed the French fashion house since 2001, following stints at Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent, follows in the footsteps of Giorgio Armani, Miuccia Prada and Vivienne Westwood who have all been awarded with honorary doctorates from the RCA.

Designer Celia Birtwell and fashion journalist and BFC ambassador Sarah Mower were also awarded honorary doctorates at the RCA’s convocation that took place last week at the Royal Albert Hall, which awarded more than 500 students with their postgraduate degrees.
