Designer Roland Mouret has announced he is folding his

menswear label MR, to focus on the expansion of his womenswear.

Mouret will be launching footwear, bridalwear and a cocktail collection to his expanding womenswear ranges.

A statement said: 'The company has made a decision to realign its focus on continuing the growth of its successful womenswear business, and, as a result, the MR menswear line has been put on hold, effective immediately.'

Roland launched his menswear line in Paris in January 2010 and is currently stocked at Mr Porter, Browns, Harrods and Selfridges.

Roland - whose celebrity fans include Victoria Beckham, Cameron Diaz and Duchess Catherine - recently said men can't be forced to learn about fashion.

He said: 'Men are more shy and proud. Women are more curious and frivolous. Even the more controlled and classic women will try something new for the sake of girliness. They may say, 'I hate it,' but they try it. You have to allow men to learn about fashion. You can't force them because they are so proud; they may take offence and block themselves.'
