Fashion designer Roland Mouret unveiled his inaugural shoe

collection during his autumn/winter 2012 catwalk show during Paris Fashion Week. The line follows Mouret's recent appointment as Creative Director at footwear brand Robert Clergerie, and the capsule collection consists of six styles including court shoes, t-bars, moccasin-style ankle, knee and thigh-high boots, which were based around the theme of the letter ‘R’, with each style having an architectural trompe l'oeil quality.

The Roland Mouret show shoe collection will be crafted at the Robert Clergerie workshops in Romans, France, and each shoe will consist of signature details including an embossed RM letter star signature on the sole, and a skilfully concealed extended platform designed specifically for comfort as well as a rarely seen seamless heel.

"I wanted to use everything I had learnt in my 13 years catwalk experience to try and create something completely new and relative to my life. An important trait was that each style had to look sexy but have a notion of comfort - to be worn day in day out,” said Mouret. “They have an attitude of daytime shoes, a masculine feel but are not too precious. I am extremely humbled to have been called a master of dresses, now one day I aim to become known as a master of shoes."

The designer hopes to develop the line into 50 styles over the next three years.
