Testino photographs royal couple

The first images of the royal engagement of Kate Middleton and Prince William

were taken by fashion photographer Mario Testino. The legendary photographer, who took several portraits of Diana, Princess of Wales - took the photographs in the last month and they are set to be released before Christmas.

Testino, who also shoots the Burberry campaign and is a regular Vogue cover photographer, is a household royal photographer and documented key moments in their lives, including Prince William's 21st birthday in June 2003 and Prince Harry's 20th birthday in 2004.

Prince Charles was photographed by Testino for Vogue in 2002, and again for US Vogue earlier this year and called on Testino to take the photograph for his official Christmas card for this year.
