Today, 45 international experts are me in Herning, Denmark to debate so-called smart textiles.

Experts will discuss questions such as ‘Will we develop clothes that need no ironing because the fibres are crease proof? Or will the focus be on environmentally friendly textiles with built-in electronics?’ until 13th May.

With the smart textiles event, Denmark is aiming for a position as pioneer country. Among the participants are representatives of companies such as Philips, Adidas, Bestseller, Kvadrat and Gabriel. The participant list also includes professors, researchers and other experts within chemistry, nano-technology, electronics and textiles. And also experts from leading international companies within development, design, production and marketing of clothes and textiles.

Knowledge Centre for Smart Textiles at Teko Design + Business, part of VIA University Colleges is the initiator of the event. In addition to the three-day Expert Summit there’s a Pretty Smart Textiles prize competition, a workshop and an open seminar for business leaders.

The Market Denmark Foundation supports Future Textiles. The complete programme of Future Textiles is available online.
