Arcadia’s fashion chain Topshop is eyeing further locations in mainline China following

the opening of its Hong Kong store last week.

The British retailer is reportedly scouting out locations in Beijing and Shanghai as it pushes ahead with its assault on Greater China.

Owner Philip Green has been quoted that he is meeting with landlords to scout locations and in an interview with the Telegraph, he added: "I'd like to have a flagship in Beijing and a flagship in Shanghai. If we can find 2,000 to 3,000 square meters - we'd like to have a Topman as well - if we can find two locations, off we go."

Last year, Green said he planned to double the size of the Topshop and Topman business globally within the next four years, and the accelerated expansion has been aided by the investment it received from US private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners, after he sold a 25 percent stake.

In addition to expanding in Asia, where the retailer has 44 stores, Topshop is also looking to increase its stores in the US, after opening its fourth in Los Angeles in February, with San Francisco being targeted as a possible location, whereas in Europe the brand is reportedly opening its first outlet in Germany this September.
