Uniqlo donates 300 million yen

Japan is in desperate need of support following the largest earthquake in Japan's history on

March 11. High street brand Uniqlo is donating 300 million yen and clothing in aid of the disaster relief affected areas of Japan.

The donation includes 300 million yen, and the employees group will gift 100 million yen. President, Chairman and CEO Tadashi Yanai, who is estimated to be the richest person of Japan, will personally donate 100 billion yen. The clothing donation includes 300,000 HeatTech line pieces, designed to retain warmth vial special fabrics. The monetary contribution goes to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Parent company Fast Retailing released a philanthropic statement yesterday. Around 2,200 Fast Retailing company stores worldwide, including those of Uniqlo, g.u., Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam and Theory, will put monetary contribution boxes in stores.
