Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo is to continue its expansion in America by opening five new stores this spring/summer.

The new store locations have been chosen to expand the brand’s presence in the country and will include Uniqlo’s first entry into the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The five new locations will be at: the King of Prussia Mall in King of Prussia, PA; Stamford Town Center in Stamford, CT; Serramonte Center in Daly City, CA; Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord, CA; and the Great Mall of the Bay Area in Milpitas, CA.

“We are thrilled to announce our newest store openings and are eager to bring the Uniqlo experience to even more communities throughout the United States,” said Larry Meyer, CEO of Uniqlo USA and Fast Retailing Group senior vice president. “Our universal products, every day basics of exceptional value, world class customer service and modern, bright stores will create a brand new group of Uniqlo fans.”

Currently there are seventeen Uniqlo stores in the US - three in New York City, five in New York State, three in New Jersey, one in Connecticut, and five in the San Francisco-Northern California area, as well as a dedicated US website, which offers nationwide online shopping.

In addition, the retail also announced that it is set to open another ‘large-scale’ store along the popular Sunshine 60 Dori shopping strip in the Ikebukuro neighbourhood in the north of Tokyo in March.

Inspired by the retailer’s other flagship locations the store will boast a 2,644 square metre sales floor, feature one floor below ground and six stories above, as it aims to showcase its popular men, women, kids and babies collections in a location that will “appeal to both locals and visitors”.
