Amazon-owned online fashion site Zappos has named

former Vogue editor André Leon Talley as artistic director of its high-end Zappos Couture business. Talley will “curate and cultivate” the creative vision for the luxury retailer, including digital and editorial content such as fashion shoots, videos and trend picks.

The current international editor-at-large of Numero Russia, will also work to shape “artistic inspiration and modernisation” across all platforms and consult on new brands, as the platform looks to its next phase of growth to develop a premiere destination for the luxury customer.

"The digital universe is a new exciting opportunity for me to reach a broad audience in terms of the global luxury market,” said Talley. “I am very happy to join Zappos Couture as Artistic Director, and hopefully will create something unique, in terms of a web magazine within the Zappos Couture website, that conveys the immediacy and excitement of luxury retail products, season by season."

Commenting on the appointment, Jennifer Sidary, head of couture at Zappos Couture said: "Andre is an icon in the world of fashion, and will bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and prescience from the luxury sector to this transformative stage.

“The establishment of an Artistic Director further underscores our commitment to supporting our partners and bringing our customer base the best in class luxury fashion, blended with compelling and original content."

Zappos Couture was established in 2004 and features a number of designer brands including Alexander McQueen, Gucci and Prada, with shoes and licensed products such as eyewear being the biggest sellers, but the site also sells couture apparel, handbags, accessories, and fragrances.
