Bravo Sports Corp., owned by Transom Capital Group, has secured its leadership within the recreational and sporting goods markets with the addition of Sector 9, a global provider of skateboards, to its portfolio.

"Sector 9 is one of the most recognisable and innovative skateboard brands on the market today," commented the deal Leonardo Pais, CEO of Bravo Sports. "We are proud to add the company to Bravo Sports' growing speciality division," he further added.

Before joining Bravo Sport’s ranks, Sector 9 was property of Billabong International. "Sector 9 is the perfect fit in our strategy of creating an action sport life style division," adds James Oh, principal of Transom Capital. "We are pleased to have worked with Billabong International to successfully carve-out the Sector 9 business."

Established in La Jolla, the retailer is mostly known for its signature long boards and related apparel, protective gear, accessories and hardware. One of the few American skateboard manufacturers, it sells boards, wheels, apparel and protective gear under the Sector 9 brand.

"This is an exciting time of change and progression for the brand and we're really excited about the future," says Dennis Telfer, co-founder of Sector 9. "Bravo Sports has the knowledge and experience to take Sector 9 to the next level."

In a joint communication issued Tuesday, Mark Heineken, chief brand officer of Bravo Sports, adds, "We will foster the innovation and skateboard technology that's at the core of Sector 9 while expanding it as a lifestyle brand worldwide."
