Aclima acquires Finnish sock manufacturer Sukkamestarit
Norwegian wool specialist Aclima has acquired Finnish sock manufacturer Sukkamestarit, expanding its hosiery range and production capacity in Northern Europe.
With this acquisition, Aclima is complementing its existing range of base and mid-layers with expertise in sock development and manufacturing, the Drammen-based company announced on Tuesday. Headquartered in Ylöjärvi, Sukkamestarit is the largest sock manufacturer in Finland. The companies did not disclose the purchase price.
Both companies have extensive experience in manufacturing products for the outdoor and defence sectors. Through Sukkamestarit, Aclima gains a specialised production and development partner to significantly expand its sock division in the future.
Simultaneously, the acquisition adds another site to Aclima’s Nordic production base. Together, the two companies generate an annual turnover well in excess of 500 million Norwegian kroner and employ a total of 186 staff.
“Sukkamestarit is an ideal addition to Aclima. The company’s expertise and manufacturing capabilities fit perfectly with our product range and the production structure we have built over many years,” said Christian Lodgaard, chief executive officer (CEO) of Aclima. “Together, we can expand our sock range and further strengthen our Nordic production base as well as our position in the outdoor and professional markets.”
Sukkamestarit also sees growth opportunities in the merger. “Combining our sock expertise with Aclima’s established position in export markets and broader product range creates diverse opportunities to grow and develop together,” said Jussi Koskinen, CEO of Sukkamestarit.
