Buckle posts Q2 sales rise amid slight profit drop
US apparel retailer Buckle reported net income of 44.4 million dollars for the second quarter ended August 1, 2026, down from 45 million dollars in the prior-year period. Diluted earnings per share reached 0.87 dollars, compared to 0.89 dollars in the second quarter of fiscal 2025.
Despite the slight decline in profit, net sales for the 13-week period grew 4.6 percent to 319.8 million dollars, up from 305.7 million dollars in the quarter ended August 2, 2025. Comparable store net sales (LFL) for the quarter rose 2.1 percent. E-commerce performance also expanded, with online revenue increasing 2.3 percent to reach 44.6 million dollars compared to 43.6 million dollars in the prior year period.
First-half earnings top 91 million dollars
For the 26-week fiscal period ended August 1, 2026, the retailer posted net income of 91.3 million dollars, or 1.79 dollars per share on a diluted basis. This represents a gain over the 80.2 million dollars, or 1.59 dollars per diluted share, recorded in the corresponding 26-week period of fiscal 2025.
Net sales for the first half increased 5.3 percent to 608.6 million dollars from 577.9 million dollars. LFL store sales for the 26-week period advanced 3.5 percent, while digital revenues moved up 2.5 percent to 92.2 million dollars from 90.0 million dollars.
The Kearney, Nebraska-headquartered retailer operates brick and mortar store locations across the US alongside its direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform.
