Huha Wear Inc. secures 20 million dollars investment led by District Ventures Capital
District Ventures Capital has announced that it has led a 20 million dollars investment in Vancouver-based intimate apparel company Huha Wear Inc., marking both the fund’s largest investment to date and the largest deal in the 20-year history of CBC’s Dragons’ Den. Export Development Canada participated as a co-investor.
Founded in 2019 by Alexa Suter, Huha has quickly emerged as a disruptive force in the women’s underwear category. The brand is best known for its Mineral Undies, made from breathable, tree-derived fibres and lined with antimicrobial zinc oxide to support comfort, hygiene, and skin wellness. The new funding will accelerate Huha’s product innovation, bolster category leadership, and fuel expansion into new markets.
Arlene Dickinson, founder and general partner of District Ventures Capital, praised Huha’s rapid rise and purpose-driven design philosophy. “Alexa has developed a brand that resonates with consumers by creating underwear for modern health and comfort. We see tremendous potential in Alexa's vision and impressive momentum, and we are thrilled to partner and support the next chapter of this rapidly growing brand.”
Suter originally pitched Huha on Season 18 of Dragons’ Den, where she struck a deal with Dickinson. The latest investment represents a significant evolution of that partnership—and a major milestone for the brand.
Reflecting on the announcement, Alexa Suter said, “When founding Huha, my vision was to support, rather than compromise, women's comfort and wellness. With District Ventures' resources behind us, we're now ready to amplify that vision and bring Huha to more markets and consumers. This is an exciting milestone for the brand and the investment validates the demand for products that are made with innovative fibres that are healthy for our skin.”
The deal reinforces District Ventures’ strategy of backing innovative Canadian CPG brands with strong consumer propositions and scalable growth potential, as Huha continues to reshape expectations in the intimate apparel industry.
