While the trend of mall decline has taken many retailers this year, it seems Lucy Activewear has also suffered. The Portland-based apparel company just confirmed it will be merged by parent company VF into another brand.

As activewear companies continue to emerge, it is not unlikely that Lucy Activewear suffered as a result. On top of the decline of in-person shoppers, activewear and athleisurewear are two markets that have grown substantially in the past years. While the market has gotten more competitive, it comes as no surprise that certain brands have suffered more than others. As a result, the label will be blended into the North Face brand, under the same umbrella company VF. According to KGW, it is not certain whether or not the brand Lucy Activewear will say in this transition or if it will merge under a new name. The company will officially close by the end of this year.

The North Face is known as well for its activewear and outdoor specialty apparel. Merging the two brands will be a relatively seamless transition as both companies sell activewear. Founded in 1999, Lucy Activewear will officially close this year as it folds into the North Face brand. The Portland company’s shop is still active currently and there is no set date on the company’s closure.
