Metta World Peace invests in Butter Cloth clothing

Infusing a sports background with fashion is not always the most seamless transition. Former Los Angeles Lakers player Metta World Peace is attempting to move into the the fashion industry from sports with an investment in Long Beach-based brand Butter Cloth.

Metta World Peace, also known as Ron Artest, joined the shirting brand recently as an investor as well as a brand ambassador. The move can act as a strategic way for the brand to appeal to the sports and celebrity world. Founder and chief executive officer of Butter Cloth Danh Tran started the label as a new take on dress shirts by mixing both comfort an style. In partnering with Metta World Peace, the dress shirts can also engage a new audience as well as provided a high-end, finished look.

Dubbed as the "world's most comfortable shirt," according to the brand's website, Butter Cloth has established itself as an elevated garment label. In the past, Tran worked as a designer for Howe, 7 For All Mankind, and Affliction Clothing. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Tran has developed Butter Cloth as a dress shirt line with 100 percent natural, sustainable and long fiber cotton. The ultra-soft fabric line currently ranges in price from approximately 88 to 98 dollars.
