After facing a series of challenges, American contemporary label Milly has been sold to MMJ LLC, a subsidiary of S. Rotschild.

According to WWD, who first reported the news, the contemporary brand’s intellectual property and selected assets (including designs, patterns, samples, inventory, fashion books and supplier base) were part of the deal.

Up until this point, Milly had been struggling with a number of issues, including a lawsuit from its publicity firm HL Group for owing the agency over 110,000 USD in retainer and consulting fees for work done in 2018. Not long after, it was reported that the brand was seeking an investor.

Whether or not the creative director Michelle Smith, or her husband and the brand’s CEO Andrew Oshirin (with whom she is in the middle of a divorce procedure) will be involved with Milly under the S. Rostchild subsidiary has yet to be determined. However, a small handful of employees, including those from the sales and design teams, will be joining S. Rotschild with the brand.
